Echoes of the Dream: Wisdom, Hope, Peace
Originally presented as a 3-channel video installation at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts in Emory, Virginia, Echoes of the Dream was created to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's vision of peace, justice and equality. The installation, inspired by the words of Dr. King's Nobel Prize acceptance speech, includes contemporary reflections on equality, inclusion and education that were contributed by students, faculty and staff of the school. The narrative piece utilizes traditional storytelling, floriography, and emerging technologies to generate a multi-dimensional audiovisual experience designed to immerse viewers in cognitive interludes of symbolism and cultural reference, producing sensations of nostalgia and connection.
